Night Vision: Contemporary Illuminated Sculpture
January 16 thru February 20, 2009
Phantom Gallery, Santa Rosa, CA
OPENING DAY MINUS 8 DAYS
I started moving into the gallery yesterday, but spent most of the day driving around purchasing materials for displays. The biggest challenge thus far is controlling the ambient light so that the light sculptures will show well.
Last night my friend Rod Hannon brought an historic piece of Cristo's Running Fence, a piece of fabric 16ft wide by 65ft long. We worked into the night hanging from the ceiling to create a room for the Passion Fruit Enviro Wall.
Here are the luminaries for the Enviro Wall loaded into my truck this morning. I'll be meeting my wonderfully helpful sister Nancy Morgn and niece Killian Morgan to begin moving the larger artworks and sewing curtains.
It's going to be a long day but there is hope that the space will be transformed. I can't overstate the value of helpful friends and family.
Patrick, Irene and Bruce,
